Sox use Long Ball to Sink the Marlins

Sox Go Deep as they prevail over the Marlins

Boston MA- Sox used their offense to beat the Miami Marlins last night. Miami jumped up to a quick lead last evening with Logan Morrison belting a first inning HR, but David Ortiz responded with one of his own and tied the game in the 1st. Home runs were of the premium last night as the Sox also got dingers from Cody Ross, Kelly Shoppach. Clay Buchholz wasn’t his self last night and never got into a smooth rhythm of pitching and finished with giving up 5 runs on 9 hits with only striking out 3. He still receives the victory and he improved to 8-2 on the year. However, a Red Sox win is a win and a step in the right direction in which the Sox hopefully can keep this momentum throughout the home stand and look to stay north of .500. Cody Ross who was activated prior to last night’s game came through with a homerun in his return; hopefully his presence will give the Sox more offensive outbursts like last night. The bullpen continued its dominance by holding the Marlins scoreless and Alfredo Aceves shut the door and picked up his 17th save on the year.

The series continues tonight as Felix Doubront faces off against Ricky Nolasco and look to take another victory from the Marlins. After last night, the Sox look to use this momentum and continue this winning streak and begin to catch the streaky New York Yankees. The Sox need to go on a tear and win the majority of the games coming up at home and really use this as a rallying point to fend off any critics of the team and just win baby win.
