Positives and Negatives of this Past Weekend’s Olympics

London- This past weekend in London could be viewed upon “failure” in certain events. A few of the notables are Michael Phelps’s not placing in 400 IM, Men’s 4×100 relay losing 15m lead to France, Ryan Lochte not medaling in 200m Free. Elizabeth Beisel not winning Gold in the 400m IM. USA Men’s gymnastics team leading in trials but fail to show up at medal round and finish 5th. Jordyn Wieber failing to qualify in the women’s gymnastics all-around title even though being all-around world champion.

Those are some notable negatives but you have to be proud of the following accomplishments with Kim Rhode winning and tying a world record in skeet shooting with 99/100 targets hit and taking home a Gold Medal. The 17-year old teenage sensation Missy Franklin took home Gold in 100m Backstroke. Dana Vollmer broke a world record in the 100m Butterfly and Matt Grevers broke the Olympic record in the 100m Backstroke along with taking home Gold. Texas Longhorn Branden Hansen finishing with Bronze Medal in 100m Breastroke and adding to his incredible Olympic Career.  USA continues to dominate in other sports such as Beach Volleyball (Men’s/Women’s), Basketball, Water Polo and look to close out these games with the highest medal count.

Go USA!!!!
