Nationals Sweep Sox as Sox Fall below .500 again

Monday June 11, 2012- I’m sure I’m like most New England Sport fans this weekend all hyped up on the Celtic’s game 7 on Saturday Night and unfortunately they lost. The Sox however didn’t give much excitement to “us” fans this weekend. The Sox only scored 9 runs and accumulated 25 k’s and were embarrassed at home. The past home stand was horrible with the Sox only winning 1 game. Granted I predicted the Sox to lose Friday Night with Stephen Strasburg pitching and he didn’t disappoint by striking out 13 batters. I didn’t expect the Sox to get swept by the Washington Nationals, and the Sox have not looked good all season. They have a losing record at home and the only bright spot that has been consistent for the Sox is the bullpen. Lester has been awful this season and hasn’t been this “ace” that we all thought. Dice-K pitching was alright, but typical Dice-K fashion giving up home runs and getting pounded. The Nationals sent out their 2 best pitchers this weekend and the Sox had no answers for those pitchers and the Sox looked horrible at the plate. Manager Bobby Valentine was very displeased with the umpires this weekend and made sure he got his two cents about the umpiring following Sunday’s disappointing loss. The Sox head to South Beach tonight to take on the Miami Marlins who recently were swept by the Tampa Bay Rays. Hopefully the Sox can rebound against the lowly Miami Marlins and could use this road trip as a way to get on a winning streak. Red Sox send Josh Beckett to the mound tonight vs. Josh Johnson.

Pitching Matchups

Josh Beckett (4-6 4.04 ERA) vs. Josh Johnson (3-4 4.56 ERA) 7:10pm

Clay Buchholz (6-2 5.77 ERA) vs. Mark Buehrle (5-6 3.49 ERA) 7:10pm

Felix Doubront (6-3 4.34 ERA) vs. Ricky Nolasco (6-4 4.36 ERA) 7:10pm

Keep the Faith!!!!
