The LA Kings won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history by defeating the Devils six to one in game six.

The Los Angeles Kings completed their miraculous journey as an eighth seed by finishing off the New Jersey Devils by a score of 6-1 last night.  This is their first Stanley Cup championship in the 45 year history of the team. It has been quite a run for the Kings who barely even made the playoffs.  After knocking off the top three seeds in the Western Conference, they won the cup in six games.  Jonathan Quick was incredible in goal for LA and won the Conn Smyth Trophy as the playoff MVP.  The Kings were also led by captain Dustin Brown, defenseman Drew Doughty, and of course coach Darryl Sutter.  Sutter left the family farm mid-season to take over the poorly playing Kings team.  He now joins his brothers Duane and Brent as Stanley Cup champions.  Duane and Brent got theirs as players, but Darryl had to wait till he was coaching.  This team deserved to win the Cup, and if you watched them at all these playoffs you saw how good a team they were.  Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings, who are now my favorite Western Conference team.
