KG Agrees to Three-Year Deal

20120630-133743.jpg Kevin Garnett would have been out of his mind not to agree to a chance to play with the Celtics for another shot at a title. He’s baaaack! And for a while, too! According to WEEI.com, forward Kevin Garnett has reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Boston Celtics worth $34 million. Garnett had recently told the team that he would inform them of his decision to either sign with the team or retire by today, and the deal became official just three hours ago. Ever since the C’s season ended tragically in a Game 7 loss to the Heat in Miami, Celtics fans and media alike have been awaiting the return of KG, especially given his second-half emergence during the regular season. Garnett averaged 16 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in 60 games played out of 66, and improved his numbers in the playoffs. In the postseason he averaged a double-double, recording 19 points and 10 rebounds per. With KG’s signing having been a major priority for Celtics GM Danny Ainge this offseason, one has to wonder who Ainge will set his sights on next. Ray Allen to give this version of the Big Three another shot at a championship? What about Brandon Bass and Mickael Pietrus? The status of each currently remains up in the air as unrestricted free-agents, but soon enough we will find out their fates. Hopefully, Ainge will do whatever it takes to improve this team to give them the best chance to hang banner number 18 and raise yet another Larry O’Brien trophy. -Ryan Hartley
