LaFell Joins WR Corps

Brandon LaFell is sure to be all smiles in New England catching passes from Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady.
As if they didn’t have enough depth at the wide receiver position.
After signing slot man Julian Edelman earlier in the day, Saturday evening the Patriots decided to ink former Carolina Panthers wideout Brandon LaFell to a three-year, $11 million deal. LaFell’s signing is the fourth one the Patriots have made in this first week of free agency, showing their will to ‘go all-in’ this offseason while attempting to keep up with their primary competition in the AFC, the Denver Broncos. The 6′ 2″, 210-pound receiver will provide veteran Tom Brady with yet another large target in addition to the monstrous Rob Gronkowski and the surprisingly-tall Aaron Dobson. He’s likely to be a red-zone threat and utilized in short-yardage situations, though his size and durability allow him to go over the middle and take shots as well. LaFell isn’t the best-of-the-bunch, but he certainly isn’t the worst, either. Carolina and Cam Newton will surely miss his versatility on their roster. The Patriots, I’m sure, are glad to have added it to theirs.
