The Lineup
Leading Off……….
Ryan Hartley – Co-Founder, Editor, Patriots/Red Sox Beat Writer
I’m a 22-year-old who recently graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and is on the doorstep of a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at the University of New Hampshire. I hope to be involved in the sports media field, specifically communications, in some way in the near future, either as a broadcaster, radio or television personality. Basically, this blog is geared toward expressing opinions and insight on all four major sports teams in the New England area, namely the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. Besides simply sharing personal thoughts and analysis, I’d like to make this site open to public opinion as well and encourage sports conversations to take place amongst visitors to the site.
I am committing myself to this blog for a number of reasons. Ever since I was in my pre-teens, I have had a keen interest in sports. The older I got, the more this interest and the depth of my knowledge grew. From observation (and of course talking to my father and uncles about sports history), I was able to get a solid idea of what the four major sports were all about. I have always had a creative side, which took the form of me developing an interest in art and music. I have been drawing and painting since the age of seven, and have been playing drums for seven years (funny coincidence, huh?). Meshing my desire to express creativity with my passion for sports planted the idea of pursuing a career in the sports media field, and this blog is a small sample size of the product that will result as I continue to learn more about the industry and develop my journalistic skills even further. Hopefully, this will make a great addition to a personal resume. Enjoy the page!
Batting Second…..
John Bracewell - Co-Founder, Director of Web Design/Marketing, Product Design Coordinator, Contributing Sports Writer
I’m a 21-year-old assistant office manager for Advanced Network Systems, an IT help desk company based out of Lincoln, RI. I’m also a sports enthusiast like Ryan, fan of all four major sports teams, which was one of the main reasons I joined this blog. I also felt that, with my years of experience working with computers at ANS (along with some dabblings in marketing), I would be able to contribute significantly to the initial creation and continued development of this site. Hope everyone enjoys the continued improvements to the page design and social networking applications (Facebook and Twitter) that NESR is on!

Third……
Jay Schotter - Director of Management, Co-Director of Business Operations, Director of Store Sales, Product Management, Financial Advisor, Red Sox Beat Writer
I’m currently a recreation management major at Bridgewater State University and captain of the school’s swim team, which competes on a Division III level. I’m also an avid sports fan, with my interest focused closest on the area’s four major sports teams. My father and I run J&C Sports Memorabilia, a self-run business that centers around the acquisition and sale of baseball cards on ebay.com. During my tenure as Vice-President of J&C Memorbilia, I have developed a great understanding for sales on the internet that I hope will transition into my work here at NESR. I will continue to research and develop my expertise in the areas of sales and management and strive to make NESR a household name.

The Clean-Up Hitter…….
John Calabro - Celtics Beat Writer
I am currently an employed graduate of Bryant University, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in marketing. I feel that having knowledge in this as well as many other business disciplines, I can help NESR to succeed and grow in the future. When I am not dabbling in the business side of things, I will also be writing primarily about the Celtics along with other potential random stories.
I am joining because of my passion about sports in general, being involved in every aspect. I am currently the Sports Director for Bryant University’s radio station, WJMF, where I have gained experience both broadcasting and producing broadcasts. Along with my intense love for playing any sport, I figure I’ll take a stab at blogging to share my knowledge with all of you followers. I am extremely excited to be a part of the NESR team, and I hope you all enjoy what I have to offer!
Batting Fifth…….
Jonathan Duncan - Bruins Beat Writer, Assistant Editor
I’m Ryan’s 15-year-old cousin. I am a sophomore at Dighton Rehoboth Regional High School in Massachusetts, where I play both football and hockey. I also umpire Little League baseball in Rehoboth and sometimes Dighton. I am joining this site as a writer because ever since I can remember I have loved sports. I follow baseball, basketball, football, and hockey closely, both the Boston teams and the leagues they play in, but hockey is by far my favorite. Hockey has always been the sport I’ve enjoyed the most, both having played it for eight years and watching it for even longer. My father also played hockey at DR when he was younger from 1979-81. His father (my grandfather) played as well, so I guess the love of the sport runs in the family. I have played football and baseball at the town league level for seven and ten years, respectively. I have joined this site purely for fun because I enjoy sports and love writing about them. I hope you all enjoy my writing about the Bruins, and hopefully I can spark some debate between all of us crazy New England sports fans!
And Hitting in the Nine Hole……
Zach Braga - Director of Content for Flashback Fridays, Contributing Sports Writer, Product Idea/Design Consultant
I currently live in Florida and work at the Walt Disney World Resort as a skipper taking trips around the rivers of the world on the World Famous Jungle Cruise. Being a Jungle Cruise skipper has always been one of my dream jobs! Another dream job of mine was always to be the starting catcher for the Boston Red Sox… that didn’t happen (my fingers are still crossed, though). Ryan and I have been close friends ever since elementary school, both growing up listening to WEEI sports radio on the way home after many Sox games that we attended together. Him, Jay, John, and I also played backyard sports together when we were younger, games which tended to get very competitive.
One day, I hope to own my very own sports bar back up north in New England. Along with the bar, I would like to start my own adult sports league. Ryan and I have talked about maybe starting up a radio show in the future as well! I am a die hard New England sports fan, of course, and do my best to catch the teams on TV when they are down in the “Sunshine State.” Feel free to follow us on Twitter at @nesportsreact. Thanks for visiting the site and let me know if you have any t-shirt ideas!

Hey man,
My name is Anthony Solis and I’m a junior in high school. I started my own blog (www.nydailysports.wordpress.com) last week because I, like you, want to pursue a career in sports journalism. I just read your Tebow Talk post and was amazed at how many people were commenting on your posts. In that case, I was wondering if you could give me some tips on ways to improve my blog and be able to attract readers. Hope you can help.
Thanks,
Anthony
Hey man,
Thanks for commenting on the page. I’ll be sure to check yours out as soon as possible. Basically, a lot of the reader traffic that has been coming through my site has come from the fact that the Word Press website host decided to move my article to the host’s main page. This is how so many people have been getting to read my article, which has been furthering traffic on my site. Other than that, keep doing research and playing with your site to keep trying to make it better. I try to post at least a story a day, so try to keep your ideas fresh.
And your page looks pretty good design-wise, so I’d say try to write about a national sports topic, something that many people will have opinions on. I’ve been writing all Boston sports stuff and didn’t have much success with user traffic, but since the Tebow article I have had a ton of people on. You seem like you’re doing pretty well, and you even got a Facebook which is pretty cool. I might have to make one to link with my Twitter and site. And you’re only a junior in high school whereas I’m a senior in college: I’d say you got a pretty good start for your age. Keep working at it; you seem like an intellectual sports writer. Good luck with your blog!
